Departments - Wastewater The Wastewater Treatment Department serves 7,000 customers. In 1994, the operation of the plant was contracted to a private management company. In order to provide job security, one condition of the contract was the transfer of town employees in the department to the management company. The staff at the Wastewater Treatment Plant inspects and maintains the current facilities and deals with customer problems. Due to a housing boom in the northern annexed areas of Clarksville, increased carrying capacity is needed. Wastewater management is working with the town to plan and develop a system to handle this additional need. Customer billing is carried out by a separate department of four town employees.
