CLARKSVILLE, IN (June 10, 2024) – They risk their own safety to keep our community safe, but Clarksville’s Firefighters are going a step further to make a difference in the lives of local kids.  During the most recent Town Council meeting, Clarksville Fire Chief Brandon Skaggs announced that firefighters and their families helped raise $29,026 for the Crusade for Children this year.  The WHAS Crusade for Children was established in 1954 by WHAS-TV, and raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children.

“This is an important fundraiser for our community because this is money that is raised locally and it stays locally,” said Chief Brandon Skaggs.  “I want to publicly thank all of the firefighters and their families for all of their hard work and hours spent collecting those funds.”

CFD raises money for the Crusade for Children with fundraising events, collection points at local intersections, and walking door-to-door to accept donations.  Although the most recent push for collections has ended, residents can always donate by dropping off funds at your nearest Clarksville Fire Station.
