Riverside Drive Construction Update

Riverside Drive Construction Update
New bike path installed on Riverside Drive.

CLARKSVILLE, IN (September 4, 2024) – The project seeks to improve the continuity of bicycle and pedestrian facilities along the Ohio River Greenway by linking Ashland Park to the City of Jeffersonville near the Restaurant Row area. The project will reconstruct Riverside Drive to accommodate two lane traffic, parallel parking, concrete sidewalks on each side of the roadway, and will add a multi use trail on the south side. Decorative pavers, street lighting, and landscaping will enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the corridor. The intersection with Market Street will be reconfigured to improve the intersection angle and sight distance. To minimize impacts to the homes and businesses along the north side of the roadway, much of the improved widening will be shifted to the south side of the existing Riverside Drive.

CURRENT OPERATIONS

Waterline construction has been completed with exception of 2 Hydrants. Curb is near completion. Sidewalk and entrance approaches are ongoing. HMA Asphalt Base and/or Intermediate courses have been completed on Mainline and Bike Path. Topsoil Placement has begun. Lighting Foundations has been completed on south side of Riverside.
